Marcus Sheffer, USGBC Central PA 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and LEED Fellow will present two breakout sessions at the upcoming GreenCon 2013 in Carlisle, PA.

Energy Modeling is a Design Decision-Making Tool!
All too often energy models on green building projects are performed at the end to determine how many LEED points the project earns.  Unfortunately this completely misses the point of energy modeling. This session will outline the use of energy models to inform design decisions and provide information on the development of integrative process standards, ASHRAE Standard 209, and the next version of LEED which encourage the use of energy models as an integral part of the design process.

An Introduction to the Living Building Challenge

This session is intended as an introduction to the Living Building Challenge, a green building certification system. Atendees will gain a better understanding of the philosophy of the system and the rationale for a regerative systems approach to design. Each imperative in the system will be reviewed and highlighted with real-world project examples along with resources and connections to the International Living Futures Institute for a deeper engagement with the ideas and issues it addresses.
