This Sustainability in Ancient and Contemporary Italian Architecture and Culturetour will be sponsored by Habitech and the Umbrella Green Network in collaboration with Viaggi di Architettura, and is designed to provide a current perspective on place, culture, design, food and trends that are the foundations of a sustainable built environment.
The tour will visit contemporary and historic hubs of architectural and design innovation, including exploration of ancient, medieval, renaissance and current sites in Venice, Riva del Garda, Rovereto, Verona, Bologna, Florence and Rome. Other activities include: a motorboat tour on the Brenta River of Palladian villas starting in Venice, meetings and meals with representatives from local and national Italian green leaders, guided tour of Verona by (and dinner with) Mario Zoccatelli (President of GBC Italia), a visit to the Ferrari museum, an aperitivo with Mario Cucinella in his green architecture studios, guided tour of Rome by Francesco Bedeschi (GBC Italia Board Member), local organic Slow Food meals, and wine-tastings. The tour will start in Venice on October 21 and conclude in Rome on October 29.
